Civils Operative

We are looking to recruit a utility/civils worker to operate on our electricity contract throughout the cumbria area. To use both mechanical and hand-dig techniques to excavate in the highways, substations, agricultural and private and complying with NRSWA Code of Practice 1991 and HSG47.Your tasks will be undertaken on public highways, agricultural, substations and private residential land and must be undertaken in a safe and responsible manner.

Requirements of the Person:

- Must have a full UK driving licence
- Hardworking and reliable
- Good time keeping and house keeping

Typical Activities/Responsibilities will include:

- Ensuring all works undertaken are safe and in line with industry best practice.
- Risk assessment and hazard identification and a strong focus on Health and Safety practices.
- Demonstrate an excellent level of customer engagement.
- Maintain a clean and safe work site.
- Whilst working on site ensure that the mandatory Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), boots, high-viz orange trousers or overalls, high-viz vest or jacket, hard hat, safety glasses and gloves for identified tasks and substances is worn.
- ducting up/cabling pulling/laying

Qualifications and Experience (desirable but not a must)
- A good understanding and experience of the Utility industry.
- Experience of groundworks, construction or associate industry.
- NRSWA qualification preferable.
- Previous experience working on Civils related projects.
- Awareness of health and safety
- Physically demanding role and will involve working outdoors in all weather conditions.
- A considerate approach to colleagues and the public.

Rate of Pay: Negotiable dependent on experience.

Monday to Friday with weekend availability.
