An exciting opportunity has arisen for a scientist to join one of the UK's leading clean energy businesses specialising in fuel cell technologies.

**Scientist Key Responsibilities**:

- Provide strong scientific/technical expertise in the development of SOC technologies from concept to product launch.
- Completing background research into innovative materials and processing routes and creating strategies for development.
- Creating, implementing, and supporting strategies to characterise the performance and stability of the fuel cell.
- Presenting technical progress and timing against delivery targets to the technical management and program management office.
- Transferring process developments to the cell and stack manufacturing team.
- Support processes for the development and manufacture of components used in SOC Technologies and be a troubleshooter providing solutions to technical challenges faced in projects.
- Support resolution of issues (technical, scientific, analytical, IP, etc) that affect, or have the potential to affect, the development of SOC Technologies, component manufacturing processes, and meeting "life" and "cost" targets for product development.

**ScientistQualification, Knowledge and Experience**:

- MSc or PhD (or equivalent) in Materials Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or a related field.
- Scientific knowledge/understanding of some of the following: ceramics materials, electro-ceramics, solution-based processing of ceramic films and nano-structured ceramic powders, sintering of ceramics, organometallic chemistry, polymer chemistry, sol-gelsand colloids, electrochemistry.
- Experience with some of the following materials characterisation techniques: rheology, particle size distribution, surface area (BET), SEM with EDS/WDX, XRD, STA/DTA, dilatometry, XRF, ACIS/EIS, electrochemical testing, indentation and mechanical propertiestesting, SIMS, ICP-MS.
- Experience with some of the following manufacturing processes: jetting, spraying, screen printing, or other thin film deposition techniques, ink formulation, synthesis of ceramic nanoparticles, and ceramics sintering.
- Demonstrate entrepreneurial, can-do attitude and adaptability to meet the goals of a fast-paced technology development environment.

**Desirable skills**:

- Some understanding of SOC technologies.
- Expertise in 6-sigma/DoE techniques.
- Experience in working with high-volume chemical solutions or ceramic manufacturing.
- Demonstrable problem-solving skills.

**Salary**: £. Competitive

**Benefits**: Pension scheme: auto-enrolment at 2% by the employee and 6% by the company (with an option to increase this to 3% and 8% respectively), Annual Leave: 25 days per annum + Banks, Life Assurance: 4 x gross salary
**Hours**: 37½ per week. Generally, employees work 7½ hours a day around our core hours of 9.30am -4.30pm
