Our work couldn’t be more important, and is of enormous significance to the security of our nation’s democracy. It enables the UK Parliament to run smoothly, function efficiently and operate transparently, and when you join us you’ll have the opportunity to shape this important new role as a key member of the Cyber Security’s newly formed Red Team. Responsible for operational cyber security including logging and monitoring, incident response, threat and vulnerability management, the team also works on intelligence-led penetration testing, the development of cyber security policies and standards, security architecture, forensic investigations and risk management.

Working closely with colleagues across the Cyber Security Operations Centre to assist in testing security controls, we’ll expect you to:

- learn how to scope, procure and conduct penetration tests to highlight the vulnerabilities and risks to Parliament’s cyber security system
- disseminate the results of these tests to service owners and key stakeholders, and assist in translating their findings into action plans that strengthen our security
- help to assess and manage the system’s vulnerabilities, using tooling to perform discovery tasks to ensure wide coverage
- liaise with service owners to relay findings and provide guidance, and work with your colleagues to use vulnerabilities in real-life exploitation scenarios to provide risk evidence
- assist with the creation of priority intelligence requirements, and use tooling to hunt for threats, enriching our defensive capabilities with indicators of compromise and detection rules
- help to maintain up-to-date threat profiles, and enrich areas such as vulnerability management with relevant threat intelligence
- support various exercises by tuning the tactics, techniques and procedures we employ, and learn to match those used by threat actors identified as targeting Parliament
- work with colleagues during incident responses, drawing from an offensive mindset and giving an attacker's perspective on how relevant tactics, techniques and procedures could be accomplished
- assist with the development of threat models and playbooks

**What You Need**
- the ability to build knowledge of Parliament’s cyber security challenges, understanding the parliamentary business context
- an appreciation of the skills required to use threat assessment principles to acquire, validate and analyse relevant threat information, enterprise attack vectors and critical organisational functions
- an understanding of the principals of penetration and vulnerability testing
- experience of conducting assessments and documenting findings
- the ability to contribute to the review and interpretation of assessment reports and action plans
- knowledge of scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell or Bash
- an understanding of basic coding techniques and how repetitive tasks could be automated via code
- excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to deliver complex technical information clearly and effectively to senior management and key stakeholders with different levels of cyber security expertise
- the ability to pass security clearance, backed by the right to work in the UK
