An exciting position has arisen in the Wakefield Police Liaison Team based at Normanton police station. We have established a close working partnership with Wakefield police which we are eager to maintain to be able to provide a robust and cohesive approach to individuals suspected of having a mental health condition.

Working alongside responding police officers, you will be expected to offer support and advice to officers attending incidents where there are mental health concerns.

A background in crisis/liaison work would be an advantage but more importantly you will be confident in working independently, be resilient and enjoy a challenge with a can do approach and attitude. The environment can be fast paced so an ability to work under pressure is a must, as well as providing timely documentation.

We share good relationships with police officers who report they feel more confident when dealing with individuals and it is of paramount importance, we foster these relations, offering our police colleagues ongoing support and education in mental health matters.

We have significantly improved liaison between the criminal justice system, health and social care agencies and have been very successful in a reduction of S136 detentions.
