**Supply Chain Stores Operative**:
**Location: Defence Science & Technology Laboratory (DSLT), Porton Down, Winterslow Road, Idmiston, Wiltshire, England, SP4 0JZ**
**Job Type: Permanent, Full Time**

**Hours: 37.5 hours a week**

An opportunity to join an experienced, versatile team, delivering first-class services to the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory.

**Position Overview**

Based at Defence Science and Technology Laboratory, Porton Down, working in a storeroom and administration environment, the post holder will be versatile in controlling stored items to ensure optimum availability to the scientific community on site. Operatives could be allocated to either 701 stores or to forward delivery or receipt and despatch duties out of Building 300. A degree of interoperable cover is also expected to cover absences and peak flows during heightened activity and covering stores, mail and Portering services.

**Main Responsibilities**
- Ensure the accurate booking, distribution, collection, and control of assets.
- Move packages around the site in a van.
- Operate a Forklift truck and other mechanical handling equipment such as pallet trucks. (Training can be provided)
- Arrange asset calibration and maintain a Register.
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with all stakeholders, promoting customer service excellence.
- Actively adhere to a safe working culture and adhere to the Health and Safety procedures, processes, and the law.
- Undertake any additional tasks as determined by the Line Manager, including leading on change to meet the emerging needs of the business, and authorised Public Events.

**What we are looking for**
- Proven experience of working in a warehouse/store's environment.
- Proven track record of delivering quality with customer-facing service and experience.
- Ability to adapt to short notice changes to requirements and deadlines.
- Good standard of education, preferably grade C or equivalent in English and Mathematics.
- Occasional local travel to work at other sites to provide absence cover as necessary.
- Holds a Full UK Driving Licence and Forklift Licence (**Forklift training can be provided**)

The Contract operates a 37.5-hour working week between the hours of 0730 and 1700 Mon to Fri only. The current working hours allow for an early finish on a Friday.

Required to wear approved company work wear.

Hold a full UK driving licence.
