Refresco, the world's leading independent soft drinks manufacturer, seeks a collaborative, agile and analytical **Head of HSE **supporting our six UK sites and building on our impressive HSE record.

This is a newly created role, illustrating Refresco UK's commitment to health, safety and sustainability and taking it forward to that all important next strategic level. This role reports direclty to the UK Manufacturing Director.

**About the Role**

You will report to the UK Manufacturing Director, Refresco UK, and work very closely with the Site Management teams, creating and deploying best practices and policies across refresco UK with the focus on health, safety, environmental performance, ensuring delivery of the HSE improvement agenda. You are responsible for developing and driving the HSE strategy for continuously reducing and eliminating risks throughout UK operations.

**What are your key areas of responsibility as Head of HSE at Refresco UK?**
- Provides UK Board assurance on Refresco UK HSE performance, vision and objectives.
- Provide expert HSE guidance and advice to UK HSE teams and relevant stake holders.
- Develops and then implements a common HSE Management system across the UK business unit (All functions) that works to deliver a zero-harm culture (People and Environment).
- Ensuring that Refresco standards as defined by group are fully implemented across all plants and facilities.
- Keeping updated with any legal regulatory changes and industry best practices and then incorporating them appropriately into the HSE management system, including ownership and communication of the BU’s risk register.
- Development and implementation of rigorous and robust auditing and governance program.
- Leads the development and deployment of the rolling 3-year HSE plan for Refresco UK
- Takes an active role within the UK’s Sustainability agenda, especially all environmental matters, ensuring local compliance and consistency with group directives, our annual objectives and our 3-year plan.
- Owns and effectively manages Refresco UK, Injury Claims register, enforcement actions or litigation regarding HSE ensuring monthly updates, effective accident investigations, claims defensibility and timely settlement including the recommendation of our insurance provider.
- Represents the UK in HSE matters within the Global Refresco group network.
- Produces and communicates to the UK Board monthly and annual HSE reports that demonstrate the ‘state’ of the UK HSE Management system, its effectiveness, and recommendations to drive improvements in line with annual objectives.
- Propose and then manage effectively HSE Central budget within agreed targets.

**About You**

You could be based anywhere in the UK for this role as you will need to travel regularly to our UK visit sites and our Head Office in Kegworth (just off Junction 24 of the M1). However, a broadly central location in England will be advantageous.

You will have previous experience in a multi-site, HSE leadership role. Sector experience is not essential, though it would be ideal if you have exposure to FMCG / food manufacturing environment or closely related industry sector such as Pharmaceuticals.

A NEBOSH Diploma in Health & Safety or equivalent is required, or if you have the NEBOSH Certificate and are currently working towards the NEBOSH Diploma. Strong environmental credentials are also preferred. In depth familiarity with ISO 14001, ISO 45001 is of course essential.

Of even more importance, however, is that you are a team player and your ability to communicate with energy and clarity, to all your colleagues irrespective of seniority level. You will need to be confident putting together and delivering quality presentations and collating reports. In addition you need to be strongly analytical allowing you to drill down and highlight the key important facts and actions needed from data and feedback.
