This role is more suitable for someone with a science, analytical or accountancy background who likes the idea of working with people in a professional services environment.

Looking after people’s money and helping them make decisions about their future requires an unusual and contradictory combination of skills. It is an increasingly technical role requiring understanding of personal tax, investments and complex pension or product rules. But you are helping people make important life choices, usually around retirement, and holding their hands through crises (e.g. Brexit, Covid and Ukraine) and market crashes. You need the technical skills and eye for detail of an accountant with the soft skills of a life coach.

You will be educated to graduate standard (minimum 2:1), ideally with A level maths, and some work and life experience behind you. Financial services experience is helpful but not a prerequisite.

The starting salary is £22,500 - £24,000 a year and the right person should expect rapid progression towards £35,000 - £40,000 within 3 years.

It starts with financial advice ‘boot camp’. You will spend 6 months in the engine room of the business doing all of the dirty work to support existing financial planners. These are young professionals similar to yourself who are simply further along the same journey and who will act as your mentor. If you show the right attributes, after 6 months we will pay for your exams and support you with paid study days away from the office. The aim is for you to achieve the CII Diploma in Financial Planning within 18 months to 2 years before progressing to higher level qualifications (the eventual aim being Chartered status). Within 2 to 3 years, you should expect to be qualified and potentially looking after some clients of your own (supported by your mentor).

The role is office based in Bath and suits people with a long-term commitment to the area. It is demanding role in a supportive, entrepreneurial business that sets industry leading standards for advice and service.
