DS Smith are recruiting for a Site Trainer to join our Training & Development department on a one year fixed term contract.

You will have a solid understanding of relevant statutory and regulatory legislation. You will also be aware of the sites environmental management system (EMS), including environmental procedures and work instructions (traffic light system).

As a Site Trainer you will spend your day working with line management ensuring that all training needs are identified and delivered to employees. You will have excellent relationship management skills as well as good computer skills (including Word & Excel).

Key responsibilities:

- Build strong relationships with all key stakeholders
- Strong technical knowledge and plant knowledge
- Work closely with the Training and Development team to provide statutory/mandatory training on site
- Ensures compliance with the relevant machinery and site policies and legislation
- Create training plans and liaise with Shift Managers to limit the impact on production
- Induction of new employees
- Create and deliver training to skilled and new employees
- Able to drive and embrace change
- Working with external/internal contractors where required

- Manual Handling (Theory and Practical)
- Crane Training
- Forklift / Truck (B1): Reel Clamp (B2)/Bale Clamp (B2)
- JIB (B2)
- Reach Truck
- Side Loader
- Loading Shovel (Volvo)
- Floor Scrubber
- Abrasive Wheels
- Reel Lifter
- Rider Bobcat (Skidsteer)
- Pedestrian Bobcat (Skidsteer)
- Scissor Lift / Boom
- Slinger/ Signaller
- Cherry Picker
- TUG (Logistics only)
- Dock Leveller (Containers - Logistics only)
- Telescopic Handler (ideally)

As part of the role, you will also train in general safety, induction, quality control, fire warden training & Permits to Work.

Any knowledge around Risk Assessment, FMM, Working at Height, Confined Space, Hydraulic Hoses, NEBOSH, IOSH or COSHH - would be desirable but not essential.
