**Job Description: Textile Machine Operative**

J H Ashworth & Son Ltd, based in Hyde, Manchester, are an established and growing têxtile manufacturing business seeking a machine operative to work 40 hours per week £10.42/hr. The role will be 4 days per week Monday to Thursday 7.30am
- 5.30pm. Overtime maybe required on a Friday am. The role will be on a temporary basis initially with a view to becoming permanent if successful.

We are looking for someone with a can-do attitude who is approachable and works well as part of a team. The right person will be willing to learn and adapt accordingly to the changing needs of the business. Prior experience of the têxtile industry and previous exposure to and operation of twisting machinery would be an advantage, but training can be provided.

There is also significant opportunity to increase skill level and responsibility within the business over time in accordance with the businesses changing needs.

Immediate start would be an advantage

**Key job responsibilities include**:

- Receiving and using information needed to fulfil production
- Set up and checking of the assembly winding and twisting machinery. Use of one's own hands and arms in handling, positioning, and moving of materials
- Starting machinery and observing operations to detect malfunctions or defects, such as yarn breakage
- Responsibility for the running of several machines at the same time, ensuring efficient production through the operation and adjustment of those machines
- Perform simple quality control activities to ensure quality of yarns. Report any issues or maintenance requests in a timely manner
- Manually remove or doff full packages and transport product to and from work area as needed
- Clean machines and the general working area
- Maintain housekeeping standards and a safe working environment
- Provide information to management and fellow workers as needed
- Maximising machinery output through team working to achieve production targets
- Develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others.
- Flexible with working overtime when required

**Skills / Qualities**:

- Ability to work well as part of a team
- Ability to receive and understand instruction
- Ability to communicate well with others
- Good observation skills
- Excellent hand and eye coordination
- Ability to work whilst standing for long periods of time as well as lift and move material
- Ability and willingness to work in a factory environment in which the use of hearing protection is mandatory
- Working in a safe manner at all times

**Salary**: £10.42 per hour

Schedule:

- 10 hour shift
