**Salary**: £35,000 - £40,000 DOE

Our highly skilled Engineering client is looking to recruit an experienced Production Engineer. As part of a small team, you will be responsible for delivering effective and efficient Production Engineering to ensure the Design and Manufacture (D&M) Department,which meets the schedules and costs of designated projects.

**The role/responsibilities**:

- Develop D&M pricing sheets, in accordance with project/customer requirements, in conjunction with the Bid/Project Manager and other members of the Production Engineering and Design teams.
- Develop an understanding of the projects/customer requirements and document the list of parts, key activities, and assumptions.
- Estimate and record design and manufacture times, noting assumptions/strategies for reference.
- Identify material and subcon costs for heat treatment/honing, etc.
- Fully participate in the development of D&M Project Schedules during the bid phase of a project, including the identification of strategic sub-contracting requirements.

Carry out the following Production Engineering activities:

- Co-ordinate and liaise with project Design Engineers regarding Design and Manufacture (D4M) techniques.
- Size and order material billets.
- Raise planning sheets (Route Cards) using “best practice” production methods for every item to be manufactured from customer drawings, including all inspection requirements.
- Sub-contractor strategic/tactical planning and management (RFQs, quotation reviews, status/progress monitoring).
- Monitor the delivery of sub-contracted parts against schedules and quality requirements, raising issues to the Production Team Leader and Project Manager if any occur.
- Maintain a close working relationship with Project Manager, MMC Leader and other MMC staff, to provide advice and guidance regarding production engineering.

**Requirements/Experience**:

- Extensive knowledge of manufacturing techniques with a bias to precision and bespoke parts
- Demonstrable working experience of 3, 4 and 5 Axis CNC programming and operations
- Working understanding of CAD tools
- Sound understanding and experience of delivering Continuous Improvement and influencing change
- Experience with working with subcontractors
- Experience of project management methodologies and tools (desirable)
- Experience of 5S and lean manufacturing processes (desirable)
- Good working knowledge of MRP systems (desirable)
