**Our Role**:
This is a 6-month maternity cover role as Senior Buyer covering our best selling Clothing range.

Reporting to the Head of Buying, you will be an experienced buyer with responsibility for a significant product area to plan, source and develop. You will work collaboratively with Design & Merchandising to ensure range is the correct balance of new & contemporary product that meets sales, margin & profit objectives. You will manage & develop the junior team & support the wider division. Working closely with HOB / Director to deliver a robust sourcing & supply chain

**What you'll be doing**:
**Product Development**:

- To build a well-balanced, customer focused range, working closely with Design & Creative teams to ensure the product range is sufficiently innovative, driving the newness suitable for the needs of all business channels, as well as delivering within the total collection aesthetic/structure
- Actively influence the development of the Creative White Print Strategy, providing ideas and feedback to design on colour, print, theme and silhouette
- Drive business initiatives & new product innovation, & sourcing new suppliers, attending trade shows and networking opportunities
- Initiate and agree fit best practise on blocks & benchmarks, driving constant quality improvement and health checks, based on best sellers and market/trend awareness
- To work closely with the QA department throughout the development process to ensure sealing stages are running to critical path requirements, that we are able to meet quality, finesse and fit standards, risk is pre-empted and preventative action taken
- Steer a diligent team who are focused on critical path management, delivering consistent product availability and system accuracy as well as a real passion for product and new ideas
- Support product business meeting across functions
- Owning commerciality of sample sign off as a protector of brand aesthetic, demonstrate the ability to surface risk and provide solution

**Supplier Management**
- In collaboration with the Senior QA team, ensure that suppliers deliver on their commitment to quality, sustainability and ethical standards, working efficiently within our process plan
- Identify and drive new sourcing requirements needed to meet our growth targets & source solutions to supply chain gaps or risks to protect our business
- Lead supplier reviews for your department & supplier scouring meetings with Clothing Director. Identify opportunities & risk in the supply base.
- To ensure that new season development is progressed efficiently and commercially. To manage the product brief timeline & sampling status
- Work with suppliers to drive departmental efficiencies, improving ways of working at category/divisional level
- Confidently deliver top line business update summaries to suppliers with the ability to communicate divisional & business strategy with a supplier facing approach
- Drive regular correspondence/meetings with supply base, sharing best & worst information, trading update and market knowledge. Deliver feedback on all samples and calculate & discuss sample hit rate and department target
- Build good relationships with supply based management counterparts with an ability to protect working relationships professionally, despite challenging meetings or dispute
- Lead the commodity & sourcing strategy and identifying areas of risk, presenting to HOB/ Director recommendations on strategy change
- Manage the annual travel budget plotting out the annual spend and monitoring progress. Identifying the annual travel requirement to safeguard best prices & supporting supplier relations
- Drive cost saving initiatives at department & divisional level

**Commercial Awareness**
- To fully potentialise peak trading periods and develop well rounded plans to protect the critical trading issue such as Aug shut down, CNY, Xmas and sales period & downtime opportunity
- Create the annual critical path for the division from Concept to product launch. Building key business timelines to shape information x function, creative, retail etc. Ensuring the framework dates create maximum flexibility and maintained availability
- Review CP outtakes ensuring all stakeholders are clear & responsible for follow up on agreed actions
- Lead Strategy for the new season development at department level. Curating key points across the department to formulate the divisional strategy presented to directors
- To have an excellent understanding of the target customer & brand aspiration. Undertake store visits and competitor appraisals both in UK & US, thorough assessment and recommendations on both trading, price positioning and product development
- Deliver a robust pricing strategy to safeguard business growth through existing customers as well as attracting new customers within the same brand aesthetic
