**Senior Legal Counsel**

**Reportingtothe Head of Legal**

**Based in**: Wilton International, Teesside

**Position overview**:
To provide commercial, contractual and financial management, support, advice, influence and guidance to enhance long-term profitable business growth and to minimise any potential commercial risks in support of our purpose to be a leading provider of sustainablesolutions, supporting the UK’s transition to Net Zero.

**Key responsibilities**:

- Acting as a senior member of the Legal team to support the key objectives and strategy for legal services to the UK business.
- Acting as a key business partner, providing legal advice and support on legal issues affecting the business, which will involve working with the following key business functions: Commercial, Projects, Trading and Optimisation, Operations, Purchasing, HR,Regulatory, Risk and Finance.
- Identifying and proactively managing legal risk within the business.
- Managing areas of compliance for which the legal team is responsible, including anti-bribery and corruption, money laundering, data protection and providing compliance guidance and training to the business.
- Reviewing, advising on, drafting and negotiating a broad range of legal contracts and documentation.
- Coaching the wider business on legal issues to enhance their legal knowledge.
- Managing litigation and claims against the business.
- Engaging and managing external legal counsel where necessary.

**Essential**
- Qualified Solicitor or FCILEx with a minimum of five years’ post qualification experience and knowledge and experience in corporate, commercial and employment law.
- Ability to provide accurate, timely and commercial legal advice
- Excellent communications skills and attention to detail
- Ability to make decisions, work autonomously and manage transactions
- Experience in drafting and negotiating commercial contracts.
- Track record of working successfully with senior colleagues
