Overview:
Harrow Council is looking for a Recycling Officer. The post holder will be responsible for the promotion and increase in the level of residential and business/commercial waste recycling throughout the Borough, through engaging with, and educating, residents and businesses to ensure increased and correct use of all available recycling options. This role will have frequently changing work demands and conflicting priorities due to the need of increasing dry mixed recycling, food waste, garden waste and têxtile recycling. There will be a need to work not only with Harrow internal and external partnerships but also West London Waste Authority (WLWA). Increasing recycling is a key flagship action and also has MTFS goals in 2024/25. Recycling is also key within our Climate Strategy so will come under close scrutiny with changing pressures and demands.

About you:

- Able to fully access buildings/sites/rough ground in order to carry out the role.
- Hold a current UK Drivers Licence or equivalent.
- Ability to work in all weather conditions and to be on your feet for long periods at a time
- Able to attend occasional meetings and events outside of normal working hours.
- Experience of using a range of data management systems
- Excellent verbal, written communication, interpersonal skills
- Ability to make decisions within the scope of your authority, and escalate appropriately
- Ability to work flexibly and meet changing priorities.
- Ability to represent the authority and the service at meetings and events
