My clients in Oxfordshire have an immediate requirement for a Product Engineer: Photovoltaics to play a key role in the development of a novel product generating electricity from sunlight.
This role is commutable from Thame, Abingdon, Kidlington, Oxford, Witney, Bicester.
My clients are an early stage company developing a next-generation solar cell product that incorporates photovoltaics within the structure of glass windows. The company is developing large-area processing methods for depositing thin layers of active materialsonto glass, and now wishes to expand the R&D team to enable processing scale-up for manufacture.
The product design combines abundant and environmentally friendly materials with low cost thin film deposition and patterning methods, producing nano-engineered solar cell components that integrate with standard glazing technologies. The product developmentteam spans a range of disciplines, including Process Engineering, Solar cell physics, Organic Chemistry, and Materials Processing.

**Responsibilities**:
Fabrication and characterisation of high efficiency, highly reliable solar cells and modules.
Technology transfer from pilot line solar cell production to module partners.
Advancing the efficiency and reliability of PV modules in a short timeframe.
Identify specific issues associated with solar cells and modules and drive appropriate solutions. Establishing and leading external collaboration.
Willingness to travel occasionally and to undertake short secondments to company's German site or contracted partner sites.
Qualifications and experience:
This position is suited to someone who has a proven track record in the development and commercialisation of photovoltaic devices, particularly full size PV modules.
Higher degree in Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science, Engineering or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
Industrial experience of commercial solar cell and PV module product development.
Experience in transferring technology from lab to fab and fab to customer.
Knowledge of semiconductor devices, including silicon based solar cells.
Knowledge of solar cell and module operation and characterisation.
Excellent analytical and diagnostic skills.
Project management skills, including managing external collaborations.
Excellent communication, presentation and written skills.
Your current job title could be development engineer, production engineer, process engineer, manufacturing engineer or similar.
