**Key Responsibilities**:
Conduct aerodynamic analyses and simulations to inform the design of our spacecraft and launch vehicles.
Design and optimize aerodynamic systems and structures, including nose cones, fins, fairings and heat shields.
Conduct wind tunnel tests and other experimental investigations to validate aerodynamic performance
.Work with other members of the engineering team to ensure that aerodynamic systems are integrated into overall vehicle designs and meet requirements for structural integrity, thermal management and other key performance metrics.
Collaborate with manufacturing and quality assurance teams to ensure that aerodynamic systems are produced and installed correctly.
Develop and maintain documentation related to aerodynamic design, analysis and testing.

**Qualifications and Experience**:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
At least 3 years of experience in the design and analysis of aerodynamic systems and structures for spacecraft or launch vehicles.
Strong understanding of fluid mechanics, aerodynamics, and aerothermodynamics.
Experience with aerodynamic analysis tools such as ANSYS, CFD and wind tunnel testing.
Familiarity with structural design principles and experience with finite element analysis tools.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Knowledge of space flight and launch vehicle systems is a plus.

**Location**

This role is based in Forres at Orbex’s headquarters.

Orbex Forres is located at the foot of the Scottish Highlands, near Inverness. It's close to the spectacular coastline, wild beaches and amazing wildlife of the Moray Firth, as well as being a short distance from the world famous Loch Ness, and Aviemore ski resort.

**Security**

You must be a UK or European citizen or from a country that is a signatory to the MTCR convention. You may be required to undergo a UK BPSS check which includes a criminal record check.
