Butchers Assistant

**Job Summary**

Murdoch's is looking to recruit a Butcher's Assistant to work on the preparation, manufacture and packaging of award-winning meat products. This role may offer progression for someone who is keen to learn and develop further butchery skills.

As well as producing traditional butchery meat cuts for our High Street shop Murdoch's makes and supplies award-winning sausages, burgers, bacon and other fresh meat products to convenience stores and supermarkets across Scotland, as well as for online UK distribution. Murdoch Butchers is certified by SALSA, operating to the highest food standards set out for small businesses.

As part of the butchery manufacturing team you will assist with preparation, production, packaging and labelling of meat cuts for our retail meat counter and for despatch/delivery. This will include
- Preparation, handling and portioning of meat for production
- Lifting and manual handling
- Following strict processes and instruction
- Operation of machinery eg. automatic packers/sealers
- Packaging and labelling
- Maintaining hygiene and quality standards
- Record keeping

This may include working in other departments within the business including our bakery where similar tasks may occur eg. preparation of products, packing, labelling.

Pay: From £11.44 per hour

Expected hours: 20 - 40 per week
