An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Neurodiversity Practitioners to join the Offender Health Directorate working at HMP Fosse Way.

This post is eligible for a Golden Hello payment of £2,750 for new starters who are external to the Trust. This is payable in 3 instalments over a 2 year period. This payment is only eligible to new starters who do not already hold a contract of employment with the Trust.

HMP Fosse Way is a Category C Resettlement Prison. HMP Fosse Way houses 1,715 prisoners and focus on the rehabilitation of offenders and their reintegration back into society. It consists of 7 House blocks across 4 floors. There is a dedicated healthcare suite located in the main building with also additional multi use rooms across the establishment including rooms for groups or 1-2-1’s.

You will assist in the identification and support of people with Neurodevelopmental Conditions, including Autism, Attention deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Learning /Intellectual Disabilities, in your designated prison establishment.

You will hold a caseload of people who are identified to have needs associated with neurodevelopmental conditions and require reasonable adjustments to be made to their healthcare.

T he role is 9-4.30 with option for flexible working arrangements and no requirement for out of hours.

You will be working within specialist multi-disciplinary services for Offender Health. You will be based within your base prison mental health team who provide Mental Health assessment and treatment services for adult male prisoners including those with Neurodevelopmental Conditions.

You will advocate for people with neurodevelopmental conditions within the prison system and promote best practice and the safety and wellbeing of these patients. You will work alongside other Neurodiversity practitioners, in similar roles, working in other prisons.

You will be a member of the mental health team and may be required to work flexibly supporting assessment and care of individuals receiving those services, though this will not be your primary duty.

You will be supported by a Clinical Lead for Neurodiversity working across Offender Health and will be part of a wider team of ND practitioners, working together for support and to develop best practice across the prison system.
