Braehead Foods are currently recruiting for a **Specifications Technologist** to join their Technical team in Kilmarnock. In this role the individual will ensure that technical systems are put in place for obtaining and maintaining specifications and uploading information into Master Data. Maintaining the supplier database, approval and supplier audit information is key to supporting this function. This role will also support the Quality Compliance function, carrying out quality checks, product sampling, supporting complaint investigation and undertaking internal audits as required.
- Responsibilities: _
- _Compiling, issuing and managing both internal factory and external customer specifications._
- _Updating technical documentation, and maintaining the information on Master Data, ensuring that it corresponds with information maintained on APIC Base._
- _Completing customer questionnaires and providing information requested._
- _Carry out internal audits of site systems and procedures ensuring follow up of any corrective actions_
- _Reviewing label sign-off procedures and making changes where necessary to ensure all elements meet the required food safety regulations._
- _Undertaking Quality Checks, product sampling and other QC related activities as required._
- _Assisting in the management of key supplier information. Ensuring that all essential information is available, up to date and filed appropriately._
- _Providing support to technical team as well as product development and commercial departments within the company, responding to queries, supporting complaint investigations, and resolving issues to help maintain the smooth running of the business._
- Essential Criteria: _
- Relevant practical experience working in the food sector within a technical environment
- Understanding of food specification systems and nutritional data bases such as Nutricalc as well as a good understanding of the technical processes of product development is beneficial.
- Team player who can demonstrate excellent communication and organisation skills.
- Strong IT skills
- Ability to demonstrate managing tight timeframes
- Experience reporting to senior managers
- Ability to collaborate across departments
- You will have an appreciation of the safety, legal compliance and quality aspects of products.
- Desirable criteria: _
- Technology degree or similar
- Trained in food hygiene, management of allergens and HACCP
- Knowledge and understanding of audits
**Salary**: £24,000.00-£27,500.00 per year
