The team support individuals in their pursuit of excellence through education, training and lifelong learning.

This dynamic and diverse day case unit supports the investigations and treatments of numerous trust wide specialities, these include hepatology, cardiology, gastroenterology, nephrology, neurology and respiratory. We deliver a wide variety of therapeutic infusions and treatments alongside diagnostic and interventional procedures.

To deliver clinical expertise and work as part of the multidisciplinary team.

Always act as a positive role model maintaining professionalism in all aspects of the role.

Undertake specific in house training to work within the respiratory clinics and within the day case bays.

The unit is open from 07:30 to 20:00, Monday to Friday and closed at weekends and bank holidays.

It consists of eight trolleys and a multi-function treatment room where respiratory procedures such as bronchoscopy and thoracoscopy are undertaken, along with the nurse led greater occipital nerve injection clinic and telephone pre assessment clinics.

The team are very proud of what they achieve and continue to look at ways of diversifying and improving standards, ensuring that patient focused care always remains a priority.

**Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as ‘Priority’ and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon who are able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.**

- To provide clinical expertise and work as part of the multidisciplinary team.
- Provides supervision and direction for nursing, clerical, support staff and learners.
- Responsible for co-ordinating and delivering effective quality nursing care following a patient centred model of practice and ensuring the unit runs smoothly and efficiently.
- Develops a well-motivated and well-educated workforce by identifying the learning needs of nursing, clerical and support staff and booking appropriate courses.
- Support individual nurses in their pursuit of excellence through education, training and lifelong learning.
- Responsible for ensuring resources are used effectively within the clinical environment.

Review and co-ordinate booking requests to assess their suitability to be undertaken on the unit and ensure that the appropriate and correct advice is given to clerical & nursing staff and patients involved in this process.

To act as a positive role model, deliver high quality nursing care and be keen to broaden your own knowledge and skills within the various specialities that the Planned Investigation Unit supports. These include respiratory, gastroenterology, hepatology, neurology, cardiology, endocrinology, dermatology and oncology.

You will need to be committed to putting the patient first, making a positive difference and demonstrating excellent communication skills with a desire to motivate others to continually develop themselves.
