**Job Title: Head of English**

**Location**: Derby

**Position Overview**:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of English to lead our English department. The Head of English will be responsible for developing and implementing curriculum, providing leadership and guidance to faculty members, and fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment for students.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Develop and implement a comprehensive English curriculum that aligns with educational standards and objectives.
- Lead and manage a team of English teachers, providing support, mentorship, and professional development opportunities.
- Monitor and assess student progress, implementing interventions as needed to support student learning and achievement.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student engagement, creativity, and critical thinking skills.
- Stay informed about current trends and best practices in English education, incorporating innovative teaching methods and technologies into instruction.
- Communicate regularly with students, parents, and colleagues to provide updates on student progress, curriculum developments, and other relevant information.
- Participate in departmental and school-wide meetings, committees, and professional development activities as required.

**Qualifications**:

- Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Valid teaching certification/license.
- Proven experience teaching English at the secondary level, with a track record of student achievement and success.
- Demonstrated leadership experience, with the ability to lead and motivate a team of educators.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of curriculum development, assessment practices, and educational technology tools.
- Commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive learning environment.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, students, and parents.
