**Job Title**:Retail Driver for Retail Shops

**Hours**:Full time equivalent 37.5 hours per week

**Location**:Retail sites throughout Herefordshire and surrounding areas

**Reports to**:Shop or Area Retail Manager

**Responsible for**:Volunteer drivers

**Job Purpose**:To provide an excellent delivery and collection service to the general public/shops including cash transportation to Head Office.

**Responsibility Areas**:
**Retail support - Retail shops**
- Deliver allocated paperwork and sundries to retail outlets.
- Deliver requested stock to retail shops.
- Collect and disperse waste materials from retail shops to skips.
- Collect recycled goods from shops and deliver to appropriate areas.
- Collect weekly takings from shops and transfer to Head Office adhering to Hospice procedures.
- Deliver and implement a high standard of customer service at all times.
- Ensure that all Hospice retail policies and procedures are followed.

**Communication - Retail Shops**
- Liaise with retail staff on-site regarding delivery and collection of sundries and stock.
- Ensure that hospice safeguarding procedures are followed.
- Promote a positive image for the organisation.
- Attend regular staff meetings.

**Legislative Compliance**
- Ensure compliance with all Hospice Health & Safety (H&S) policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant Trading Standards.
- Ensure that General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is adhered to in all areas.

**Recycling & Waste Management**
- Contribute in all areas of recycling to provide maximum income from this source.
- Ensure safe waste management procedures are adhered to.

**Vehicle Maintenance**
- Responsible for day to day maintenance of vehicle with completion of regular checks.
- Responsible for the arrangement of regular and statutory checks with authorised motor garage as directed by Head office.
- Responsible for security of vehicle and contents during and at end of day.
- Ensure that all equipment used in the vehicle is fit for purpose including holding straps and sack trucks.
- Adhere to all Health and Safety regulations and policies concerning safe driving and manual handling.

**Person Specification**

**1) Specialist Knowledge and Experience**

**Essential**
- Be in possession of a full UK driving licence, be over 21 and have held a full licence for 12 months
- Experience of driving a large van
- Knowledge of Health & Safety, Manual Handling and Trading Standards

**Desirable**
- Commercial awareness of valuable items
- Basic IT skills
- Knowledge of local area

**3) Special Conditions**
- Regular loading and unloading of vehicles and vans.
- Regular handling of soiled and broken materials, including potential contact with needles, requiring personal protective equipment e.g. toe protectors, uniform, gloves.
- H&L -Limited heating in holding bays, having to work in cold temperatures
- Lunch breaks sometimes disrupted due to business demands
- Contact with bereaved individuals
- Occasional threatening behaviours
- Shop van driver - lone working
