My client in **Basingstoke**is looking for an experienced **Band 6 Biochemistry Biomedical Scientist** for a locum contract.

Job Role:

- A registered Biomedical Scientist delivering Blood Sciences services which contributes to the diagnosis, clinical biochemistry treatment and clinical care of the patient.
- Analysis of blood, body fluids to determine the presence or absence of abnormal pathology; to enable diagnosis and subsequent monitoring of the effectiveness of treatment given.
- The post holder will be highly skilled in the use of the latest biomedical techniques and complex instrumentation alongside more traditional manual methods of investigation.
- The individual will be committed to formally maintaining their specialist skills and knowledge by appropriate training and self-education.
- The individual is responsible for the delegated tasks involved in the delivery of a clinical pathology service that enables the highest standards of patient care.
- In addition the biomedical scientist will, under the guidance of senior biomedical scientists, supervise, train and mentor biomedical support workers, trainee and newly appointed Biomedical Scientists.
- The post holder will be competent to work independently in all areas of the laboratory and be able to work as an autonomous practitioner participating in the out of hours /shift rota enabling a full 24 hour pathology service to be provided to the Trust.

Qualifications and Experience required:

- **HCPC registered as a BMS**:

- Knowledge of general Biochemistry, acquired by lab experience and IBMS registration portfolio.
- Working in a diagnostic laboratory at Specialist BMS level.
- Good overall knowledge of analytical procedures
- Computer literate
- IBMS specialist portfolio in Biochemistry
