We are looking for an enthusiastic and personable Co-ordinator to join our friendly and supportive administrative team in Stroke / Care of the Elderly.

This is an interesting and varied role, which involves regular interaction with doctors, patients and other care professionals. The role will largely be supporting the TIA Consultants and Doctors with patient TIA pathways, whilst directly line managing the TIA admin secretary and working closely with other admin colleagues in the department who support the Stroke/ Care of the Elderly Clinical Teams.

The successful applicant will provide a confidential and professional TIA service to the Stroke clinical team. Good communication with patients, General Practitioners and other Hospital staff is essential to ensure a responsive, high quality service.

We are looking for a motivated individual who believes in an ethos of continual improvement and high quality patient-centred care. The ideal post-holder will be organised and focused, with a keen attention to detail.

You will have well-developed communication and time management skills.

An ability to prioritise effectively in a busy environment is essential. You will ideally have a minimum of 1 years' secretarial experience in a medical setting.

The Co-ordinator underpins the success, efficiency and effectiveness of the TIA Team. They are the first point of contact in all respects and reflect the professional ethos of the service. They work in a flexible, supportive and approachable way in response to constantly changing priorities and demands.

Computer literate in all Microsoft packages is essential. Ability to multi-task. This is a responsible role, and you will be expected to use your own initiative, make independent decisions and deal sensitively with patients, their relatives and the wider healthcare team.

We are a busy department and we require an energetic, enthusiastic and well organised individual to join our team as a TIA Co-ordinator. You will directly line manage the TIA secretary and provide supervisory support to the admin team in times of absence of the secretary supervisor.

**Referrals & Booking**:
**Transcription**:
Typing correspondence to patients, GP's, medical staff and any other required addressee, following clinical attendance or other patient contacts as directed by the Admin Manager.

Typing detailed medical reports for legal use when necessary

Take and transcribe minutes as appropriate

**Outcomes and Results**:
Highlighting to the clinical team members any results, correspondence or patient queries that need response and taking action e.g. chase up requesting investigations, transcription etc.

Supporting Consultant/Doctor staff by assisting with the production/transcription of medical staffing paperwork.

Liaising with external organisations for the benefit and progress of patient care, such as Social Services, other hospitals etc.

**Service Improvement**:
As directed, support the resolution of complaints or concerns from patients/carers by helping to collate information and work with the Secretary Supervisor/PALS to respond or escalate appropriately.

**Teamwork**:
To cover colleagues during absences/annual leave/sick leave. You may also be required to undertake job rotation for cross cover as well as for development and training purposes.

Undertake routine office duties including electronic note tracking, photocopying, filing of correspondence and results for maintenance of records.

Assist in the training and induction for new and existing colleagues

Taking the initiative as an when required as well as working flexibly and adapting to demands of the Department/Team as appropriate.

Liaise with relevant team members to ensure that any process changes run smoothly and efficiently.

Undertake any other duties within the role, as required at the request of your Line Manager.
