We have a global team with a singular mission, to make our client's projects happen.
Claxton are currently looking to hire a **Designer/Draughtsperson** to join the team on a full-time, permanent basis.
Work will predominately be office based in the Aberdeen area. However, when required local, national and international travel may be requested at short notice. The employee may also be asked to attend offices and work sites both on and offshore in support of product and project delivery and operations.
**Duties/Responsibilities**
- Perform 3D and 2D design activities and produce machining/fabrication drawings in support of the development, commercialisation and sustaining of products, technologies and associated systems
- Interpret functional and technical specifications in order to produce the best design solution to satisfy project requirements considering timescale, cost, safety, client and industry standards
- Wherever possible, integrate products and technologies from within Claxton and Acteon to develop solutions
- Perform design and development, check and review activities in accordance with Claxton quality management system processes and procedures
- Support assembly, commissioning and testing of company equipment onsite and offsite
- Contribute conceptual design work and CTR input in support of the composition of proposal documents
- Where appropriate, liaise with other designers and team members throughout Claxton and Acteon to gain experience of company product lines and share ideas on how to explore new markets directly with existing products and technologies or by combining existing Acteon and 3rd party products and technologies
- Offer support and technical guidance to members of the engineering, projects, operations, supply chain, sales and commercial teams to aid the growth and development of the company
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of design and development processes and procedures for the business unit
- Offer direct and indirect mentorship to developing designers, technicians, interns and work placement students
**Requirements**:
- Flexible team player who also functions very well under own initiative, bringing creativity and efficiency to design output
- Cross-functional contributor, working with engineering, operations, supply chain and quality functions to ensure design output considers all stakeholders
- Ideally with a practical background through work history or hobbies
- HND Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Design (however a combination of HNC and relevant experience will be considered)
- Preferably registration with a recognised professional body (e.g. IMechE, IET)
- Skilled in the use of 2D and 3D design packages for modelling, drawing, tolerance/GD&T, hydraulic systems and preparation of models for FEA analysis
- Experience in mechanical tooling design from developing concepts to creating detailed machining and fabrication drawing packs
- Knowledge and experience regarding well abandonment and subsea infrastructure decommissioning and associated tooling designs
- Knowledge and experience of offshore IRM work scopes and associated mechanical/ hydraulic/ electronic bespoke tooling design for diver and ROV operations
- Preferably with knowledge and experience of offshore wind farm installation and commissioning and developing associated tooling
