**ABOUT THE ROLE**
- Communicate our vision for the development of the academic partnership with the host university, including liaising with the departments to ensure effective teaching and learning provisions and to maximise opportunities for recruitment to the centre.
- Communicate our vision for the development of programme pathways to meet the overall strategic aims of the centre as an effective, attractive and high-quality pathway to UK HE.
- Contribute to planning and development including human resources; academic development; learning, teaching and assessment; and academic quality assurance and enhancement, as part of the Academic Management Team
- Provide effective and efficient academic management and co-ordination of staff resources across the all-academic and progression support teams in the Centre, working closely with the other Heads of Subject and the Senior Leadership Team
- Ensure the recruitment of academic staff is planned, timely and compliant. Ensure that the Arts and Humanities team meet all minimum expectations/compliance in their duties and provide feedback on their performance.
- Take responsibility for academic standards, the quality of learning opportunities, the accuracy and completeness of published information, ensuring that they are managed appropriately and in accordance with the policies and procedures of Durham ISC.
- Oversee the effective operation of the Arts and Humanities and programme review processes and work on new programme (product) development. Contribute to ensuring that the Centre is fully compliant with Study Group’s, University of Durham’s and relevant external agencies’ quality frameworks, policies, procedures and codes of practice.
- Contribute to ensuring that the Centre’s Quality Assurance framework is implemented in areas relevant to Arts and Humanities
- Contribute to analysing data and feedback from Arts and Humanities modules and work with the Head of Quality and Enhancement to monitor progress towards progression targets, planning and implementing remedial actions where necessary.
- Contribute to reports, analysis and evaluation for all internal and external scrutiny processes as directed by the Senior Leadership Team and in collaboration with other Heads of Subject
- Work closely with the Senior Leadership Team and Head of Registry and Operations to ensure that timetables and assessment schedules are delivered effectively, staff are recruited compliantly and Academic staff and SET work together as one team.
- Work closely with the Student Outcome’s team to ensure that students at risk are being provided with appropriate support and, where required, timely intervention.
- Manage and address day-to-day issues that arise ensuring that solutions are sought and problems resolved effectively and efficiently.
- Develop close and effective working relations with key partners within the University of Durham, including Department and Faculty Link Tutors to support the organisation of immersion activities and academic skill’s alignment with the DUISC programmes

**ABOUT YOU**
- A bachelor’s degree in an appropriate discipline, a master’s or higher degree is desirable**.**:

- A recognised Teaching Qualification (desirable)
- Experience of providing leadership in a complex multi-disciplinary environment, with evidence of success.
- Experience of providing feedback to another person about their performance, which achieved a positive improvement.
- Experience of HR duties, such as delivering training and taking part in the recruitment process.
- Ability to delegate activities, set deadlines and take responsibility for overseeing their successful completion to meet challenging deadlines.
- Experience of successfully leading on internal communication, which includes disseminating complex messages or changes to operations.
- Experience of working with international students and an understanding of welfare, well-being and cultural issues which may arise.
- Experience of data management and interpretation, and quality assurance.
- Experience of working across, up and down an organisation as well as with external partners and both national and international stakeholders.
- Significant teaching experience within post-16 education, a UK pathway Centre or higher education
- Experience of providing feedback to another person about their performance, which achieved a positive improvement.
- A sound understanding of UK higher education and experience. Strong team-working skills and experience of team development.
- Knowledge of the needs of international students and experience of working with international students.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to communicate issues to a wide audience.
- Flexibility and willingness to work under pressure to deadlines. Sound IT skills in
