Weighbridge Operative

**Definition**:
To provide efficient and effective weighbridge operations for the depot, whilst also delivering key administration tasks for the Depot Manager.
**Purpose**:
To ensure the smooth operation of the weighbridge facility, acting as point of contact for customers to the depot. Responsible for ensuring all legal obligations/regulations and company procedures are met. This role reports directly to the Depot Manager
**Scope of the role**:
- Direct traffic coming onto site and operate weighbridge.
- Check incoming loads, ensuring compliance with site licence and permitted waste types and current environmental legislation.
- Accurately record weights and waste types by vehicle, both in and out, completing appropriate documentation and collect driver signatures, vehicle registration etc.
- Processing of delivery notes and weighbridge tickets accurately and efficiently, and ensure they are filed in such a way that they are able to be sourced internally and externally in a timely manner.
- Immediately report any contamination or non-conforming wastes delivered to site to the Depot Manager.
- Report any anomalies/errors to the weighbridge system to the appropriate department/manager immediately.
- Maintain relationships and deal with queries from customers and site visitors.
- Ensure customers are aware of site rules and distribute information and guidance, accordingly.
- Issue of PPE to all site visitors and company employees.
- Ensure that vehicles have the necessary paperwork for forward movements from the site to destination.
- Notify online DVLA of End of Life Vehicles and completion of the Certificate of Destruction.
- Allocate weights and grades for mixed non-ferrous loads and advise the relevant depot.
- To assist with the consignment of materials, including hazardous waste leaving the site and to ensure where necessary that the correct consignment notes/waste transfer notes are issued.
- To balance and reconcile all cash boxes/PDQ transactions on a daily basis and ensure appropriate documentation is forward to Head Office in a timely manner.
- Compile compliance reports for materials in and out of the site.
- Scan customers ID and input information onto the customer database.
- Assist with general administrative duties, including but not limited to, answering the telephone and dealing with queries, updating documentation as instructed, booking vehicle collections.
- Good housekeeping in working area.
- Comply with all Health, Safety, HR, Quality, Environmental and other Company policies and procedures.
- To provide cover for colleagues on breaks and short absences and assist colleagues when required.
- To represent the Company in a professional manner at all times.

**Qualifications & Experience**:
- A good standard of education with a minimum of GCSE English and Mathematics at Grade A-C or equivalent
- Previous Customer Service experience in an administrative role
- Experience of working in a busy customer environment with competing priorities & demands
- Good understanding of recycled waste types and processing.
