This new post will be to act as an expert practitioner selecting, assessing, planning and delivering evidence based, nutrition and dietetic care to patients within a specialist field. In general, to act as a source of expertise for patients, within the speciality, other health care professionals, GPs and Consultants.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a permanent, Specialist Community Dietitian in NHS Lanarkshire. We are looking for a skilled, motivated dietitian with excellent communication and negotiation skills who will:
Provide a clinical service within outpatient and domiciliary settings, and via remote (video / telephone) appointment modes. Within this post there will be a focus on:
Home Enteral Feeding, supporting patients post hospital discharge and with ongoing community care
Nutritional support for patients with / at risk of undernutrition
Adults, although there may be opportunities to work with paediatric patients
Demonstrate excellent team working skills and the ability to work using own initiative
Be a source of professional dietetic advice in enteral feeding and nutrition support
Contribute to service development and quality improvement initiatives
Be an active participant in student training.
Have excellent time management skills
Have working knowledge of basic information technology

KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO DO THE JOB
- Registered Dietitian with valid HCPC Registration
- Educated to/working towards/operating at Degree Level
- Post graduate expertise within speciality / area of practice that demonstrates the required breadth of knowledge required to lead safety, effectively and efficiently.
- Comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within the speciality / area of practice.
- Specialist knowledge and experience of relevant conditions, pathology, policies and procedures associated with the speciality/area of practice ensuring that the level of expertise can be utilised to deliver leadership within speciality / area of practice.
- Leadership skills to enable the day to day management of service delivery.
- Further education/evidence of Continuous Professional Development in area of speciality including study days/courses/post graduate qualification
- The post holder will possess excellent team-working/leadership skills and have the ability to motivate others and work using own initiative
- Excellent listening, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Effective time management skills
- Working knowledge of basic information technology

You will be a Registered Dietitian with valid HCPC Registration. This post requires travel across NHS Lanarkshire - a full driving license is essential.
