We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, motivated, responsible individual to join the pharmacy team and be an integral part of our 7 day service.

We are a busy department covering a diverse range of activities and functions including: dispensary, logistics, quality control, manufacture and preparation of medicines and products including chemotherapy and parenteral nutrition, clinical trials, ward based/clinical activities, medicines information and community services.

You will work with our Logistics and Dispensary teams providing pharmacy services including: dispensing and reception in the Dispensary, Distribution and Stores, portering (transportation of stock medicines and fluids to the wards and clinics), procurement and administration, dependent on service needs. You will also support our ward based team by providing a stock top-up service on designated ward/s and work in our Chemotherapy Preparation unit, as defined by Management.

On the job training will be given and departmental competencies will also be undertaken.

Numeracy and Literacy testing will be part of the interview process.

Attend to patients/customers/representatives/carers/hospital staff and other hospital visitors at the reception hatches.

Deal with basic telephone enquiries, referring to other Pharmacy staff where appropriate.

Hand out medication and documentation to other health care professionals as appropriate.

Record and update the work based computer tracking system for discharge and inpatients.

Collect prescription charges and check exemptions

Accurately dispense medicines for in-patients and out-patients including controlled drugs, unlicensed medicines, cytotoxic medicines and Monitored Dosage System (MDS), booking out stock and generating labels using the pharmacy computer system

Working in Pharmacy stores and distribution supporting good stock management

To support with the preparation of chemotherapy in the aseptic unit

Transportation of stock including bulky IV fluids to and from Pharmacy, Wards, Clinics.

Using good manual handling techniques
