**Description of the Early Years Educator Role**

**Context and Purpose of the Role**
The role of the Educator is to support all children in our care. The educator should be an inspiring, compassionate, kind, and caring individual who seeks to motivate and educate.

**Responsibilities of the Deputy Nursery Manager**:
**General Responsibilities**
- Provide equal opportunities to all children regardless of their religious persuasion, racial origins, gender, disabilities, cultural or linguistic background. In particular, address situations where racism or discrimination is displayed, supporting children’s well-being at all times.
- Support the needs of children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities via specialist programs, making the Company’s admission policy as inclusive as possible. Identify a suitable individual for training to support this.
- Develop and maintain the nursery environment and equipment to ensure it provides a clean, safe, high-quality learning environment that offers children a wide range of experiences, aligning with the Company's mission statement.
- Maintain appropriate records and administration systems, including information on children’s families, staffing, registers, health and safety, and sickness records, ensuring confidentiality.
- Implement Health & Safety policies within the nursery with support from the Health and Safety Consultant. Maintain required standards of cleanliness and hygiene, ensure risk assessments are in place, environments and equipment are properly maintained, and best practices are communicated and promoted throughout the nursery.
- Foster an ethos of reflective practice across the nursery and use this information to develop and support development plans addressing areas identified for improvement across the nursery and for individuals.
- Follow the guidance issued in the Company’s Operational Plan, Policies and Procedures, and Staff Handbook, ensuring its implementation throughout the nursery.
- Collaborate with the management & leadership team to ensure the smooth running of the nursery.
- Attend meetings and training as necessary to foster your own professional development and ensure the smooth operation of the nursery.
- Take necessary action to ensure the smooth running of the setting and the safety and well-being of children, parents, and colleagues.
- Provide excellent care and education to all children and take responsibility for your key family. Work as a team to ensure all learning development is recorded and children’s care needs are met and communicated to all.

**Required Qualifications, Experience and Knowledge**
- Experience and qualifications are desirable.
- Knowledge of the EYFS and high-quality early years practice, including statutory requirements, theorists, and current research.
- Knowledge of and commitment to child protection, health and safety, equal opportunities, and SEN/Inclusion.

**Physical Requirements**
The following job requirements may need to be performed, with or without reasonable accommodations:

- Rising from kneeling/sitting position - Lifting and carrying children up to the age of 5.
