Rent and Service Charge Setting Officer Temp: London

A fantastic opportunity has emerged for a Rent and Service Charge Setting Officer to join one of Adecco's most improved public sector clients in a temporary assignment, initially for 6 months.
Our client needs to effect full cost recovery for repairs, renewals and in some cases communal charges for all of their properties through housing benefit eligible service charges. Costs have increased across the board and they need to ensure that 2023/24service charges are set at levels that allow them to maintain their properties to the high standards their clients deserve. With significant changes in their finance team over the last 6 months, this process has been somewhat delayed, and they urgently requireadditional resource to help them with this process.
The postholder will be required to utilise existing financial information and allow increases for inflation and projected work to set eligible service charge levels for all properties within our client's portfolio. They must also liaise and negotiate withour client's partner Registered Providers to agree the charges alongside net rent and work with the internal finance team to supply rent increase letters to residents and housing benefit departments within the required timeframes. This project will need tobe delivered at pace as residents are required to be notified of their rent increase by the 28th February 2023 and housing benefit departments by the end of March 2023.
- Extensive experience of undertaking rent and service charge setting, ideally gained within a social housing context.
- Understanding of social housing.
- Strong financial literacy with the ability to understand and create budgets and manipulate spreadsheets.
- Excellent negotiations skills
- Ability to work effectively with mínimal supervision and cross departmentally.
