The Whitechapel Centre’s mission is to prevent and resolve homelessness, social exclusion and housing poverty by providing practical, realistic, tailored support so that each person can find a route out of homelessness, maintain a home and achieve their individual potential.

Our Liverpool City Region Assertive Outreach Service provides direct support to people sleeping rough or living a street lifestyle. The aim of the Service is to reduce rough sleeping; develop local referral routes into Housing First and other commissioned services; improve health and wellbeing and improve the pathways between partners such as the Criminal Justice system, mental health services and homelessness services.

To achieve these aims Whitechapel works in partnership with Mersey Care to provide an integrated package of support that addresses both health and social issues including crisis intervention, support and advice around access to accommodation, treatment, health and wider support and care services.

We are now looking for an exceptional support worker who has the energy and commitment to make a real difference.

With a good working knowledge of Housing and Welfare Rights, you will have at least 2 years’ experience of working in a homelessness, housing or support setting, experience of developing personalized support plans and providing advice and support to people about housing, benefit maximisation, substance misuse problems, domestic abuse, care and mental health services.

Highly organized and with the confidence to work well in a multi-agency setting, you will be comfortable using your own initiative to make informed and effective decisions. We are looking for someone who has the ability to work within a flexible rota which will include some early mornings, late evenings and weekends by arrangement. Car use is essential as the City Region covers a large geographical area.

Funding is to the end of March 2025 in the first instance.
