We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced and proactive person to support our Gastroenterology, Surgical and Critical Care Dietetic services. An opportunity has arisen to join the team of over 30 Dietitians in the York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, as a Band 6 Dietitian specialising in Gastroenterology, Surgery and Critical Care.

We are looking to recruit a Dietitian with experience in these areas, or a Band 5/6 who is keen to gain experience in these specialities.

This post sits within a supportive Dietetic department comprising of other Dietitians and Dietetic Support Workers. You will be part of the Gastroenterology, Surgery and Critical Care Dietetics service across the York and Scarborough Hospital sites. Clinical leadership is provided by a Band 7 Advanced Clinical Specialist Dietitian and Professional Lead. Operational support is provided by the Team Manager and the Senior AHP Operational Manager.

The post holder will be a key member of the Surgical, Critical Care, Gastroenterology and Nutrition multi-disciplinary teams at York. There will be opportunities to lead on dietetic service development in the clinical areas of bariatric surgery, IBD, IBS, coeliac disease, liver disease, critical care and post-surgical patients.

You will be primarily based at York Hospital, but will be required to travel to Scarborough Hospital too.

The gastro/surgical dietitians deliver a comprehensive service to patients in a wide area of clinical specialities, including;
patients on a bariatric surgical pathway

post-surgery

critical care

liver disease and transplant work up

IBS and IBD

coeliac disease

pancreatic disorders

The team work closely with a number of specialist nurses and gastro psychology services to support the needs of patients.

The department places a strong emphasis on clinical supervision, training and education, including:
peer support and supervision

well established programme facilitating the training of dietetic students

delivery of a variety of rolling training programmes for other healthcare professionals across the Trust, relating to nutritional care

opportunities to participate in audit and research

development in leadership skills

The ability to transport yourself across the locality during the course of a working day is required.
