1 x 37.5 hours £13.82 per hour (£26,949.00 pa) based across Flintshire, Wrexham, Denbighshire and Conwy.

The Traveller community in North Wales represents a unique population with distinctive cultural traditions. However, like any community, it faces challenges, and one pressing issue is the occurrence of domestic abuse. This role provides a dedicated worker to support Travellers experiencing domestic abuse, focusing on awareness, outreach, and overcoming communication barriers
- One of the primary objectives of the project is to raise awareness about domestic abuse within the Traveller community and the available support resources.
- Outreach programs will be designed to dispel myths, reduce stigma, and encourage open conversations about domestic abuse.
- Culturally appropriate educational materials will be developed and disseminated through community centres, events, and online platforms to ensure widespread awareness.
- The post holder will be culturally competent, understanding the nuances of Traveller lifestyles and the challenges they may face when addressing domestic abuse.
- The worker will serve as a trusted point of contact, providing emotional support, information, and assistance in navigating available resources
- Contribute to the assessment of victims and survivors of domestic violence and abuse.
- The dedicated worker will undergo comprehensive training on domestic abuse, cultural competency, and effective communication strategies.
- Host regular community meetings, workshops, and awareness campaigns will be conducted to engage the Traveller community in open discussions about domestic abuse.
- Partnerships will be formed with existing support services, law enforcement, and healthcare providers to create a network of comprehensive assistance.
- Ensure that any issues in relation to safeguarding children or vulnerable adults are brought to the immediate attention of DASU’s Safeguarding Lead.
- Develop and maintain an inventory of all equipment and resources.
- Undertake administrative tasks, keep records of service activity, and contribute to development of monitoring and evaluation tools. This will include providing details of activities to the senior management team so they can update funders.
- The post holder will be expected to undertake on-going training as part of continuing professional development.
- The post holder will be expected to strengthen DASU’s position as leading specialised domestic abuse service within North Wales by consolidating and improving community links and relationships with other statutory and voluntary agencies. The post holder will be required to facilitate presentations regarding the project to share knowledge and good practise.
- The post holder will have a flexible approach to working hours supporting clients outside of normal working hours where necessary and strictly in line with DASU lone working policy.
- The post holder will be expected to take part in DASU ‘on call’ rota and take annual leave and TOIL entitlement with care to ensure that the project has adequate cover in place.
- The post holder will be accepting a role that requires intense emotional labour; it is essential that the post holder actions good personal boundaries and the ability to maintain a clear sense of client -centred objectivity.

**Essential**

In depth knowledge of the challenges faced by the traveller community

Experience of hosting community meetings, building partnerships and developing materials

Experience of supporting people who have been affected by Domestic abuse.

Understanding of trauma and how it affects people experiencing domestic abuse

Has a sound knowledge of safeguarding procedures and policies.

**OTHER REQUIREMENTS**
- Subject to Enhanced DBS Check
- Ability to work outside the normal office hours to cover on call on a rota basis.
