Lineman 2 (Olec 2)

VolkerRail are looking to recruit Linemen 2 (OLEC 2) to join our Major Projects team, working as part of the Transpennine Route Upgrade East Alliance.

The mission of the TRU East Alliance is to transform the East of Leeds route allowing people to travel faster, more reliably and in greater comfort between the North’s great cities. Providing passengers with more choice, more seats and better facilities on a safer, cleaner, more environmentally friendly railway.

The TRU East project is broken down into multiple overlapping projects. Project E1 which is currently in build and planned to complete in mid-2024. With the remaining projects E2,3,4 and Shipley planned to complete in Mid-2027. The project works include full new electrification between Leeds and York and include significant and complex renewals works at Neville Hill and Church Fenton. The works also include a new depot at Shipley, and line speed enhancement and Journey time improvement works along the route between Leeds and York. The project hub is located at Gascoigne Wood (LS25 6JE) with travel across multiple sites between Leeds and York situated less than 1 hours travel from either end of the project.

**Key accountabilities**:
Key duties will include:

- Operate Electrification plant and equipment for the installation of OLE equipment.
- Ensure that safety is at the forefront of construction and that the planned works are delivered safely, effectively and on time.
- Deliver the allocated Electrification and associated works, ensuring all works are delivered to contract specification, within set budgetary targets and to the required quality standards.
- Liaise with Electrification team members, as necessary, to maintain efficient channels of communication.
- Endeavour to achieve high levels of safety, performance, attendance, and behavioural standards to continuously develop team culture.

**Skills & experience**:
To be considered for these roles, you must also possess a ‘right first time’ attitude and a desire to take responsibility for the outcome of your works including the strength of character to avoid compromises on work quality.

Ideally you will also have the following experience / skill set:

- Experience working within OLE construction works. You must be able to demonstrate previous successes or lessons learnt gained from these experiences in a similar role.
- OLEC 1 and 2 competencies.
- Will be familiar with, and have experience of Mk3b, Series 1 and Master series equipment.
- Hold MEWP operator competencies.
- Able to work on own initiative with minimum supervision.
- Must have full UK driving licence.
- You will be required to work on projects across the UK, so a willingness to travel, lodge away from home and work weekends is essential.
