Working in partnership with a prestigious ship yard on Birkenhead Docks, we are currently recruiting a reliable, proven and dedicated Plater / Fabricator. This is a fantastic opportunity to work for an Employer of Choice that offers career progression, training opportunities and great pay.

**Pay rate: £17.80 - £35.60 per hour**

Monday - Friday

Mon - Thu 08:00 - 16:30, Fri 08:00 - 16:30

**What is the Job doing?**
- Fabricating jigs for batch production
- Cold cutting, grinding and nibbling machines.
- Tack and block welding, using MMA, FCAW (qualification as required)
- Prepare weld joints to specification prior to welding
- Plating Frames
- Follow all health and safety procedure, safe systems of work, approved codes of practice, etc.
- Performing cutting methods safely, thermal cutting (oxy-acetylene, plasma), cold cutting methods (guillotine, steel worker, cropper, angle grinder, nibbler).
- To maintain and care for tools and equipment in an appropriate manner.
- Completing NDT processes, including MPI, DPI, X-Ray and Ultrasonic testing
- Using thermal cutting equipment (oxy-acetylene/ plasma)
- Cutting and gauging equipment (air-arc, gauging electrodes)
- Use of fairing aids, (pad eyes, lifting lugs, toggles, sliders, bridges, strong-backs, wedges, hydraulic jacks/ pulls, vacuum press, chain block, chain pulls, etc.)
- Forming and shaping using brake press, rollers, fly press, folding machine, angle rollers, pin block and hydraulic jacks
- Operating wall cranes, overhead cranes and chain blocks

**What do you need to be successful within the role?**
- Full UK driving licence preferrable but not essential
- Welding certification - MMA / FCAW NVQ/ City & Guilds Technical Certificate
- Previous experience within a similar role is essential e.g. marine fabricatior, steel fabricator, ship yard plater, off shore welder, construction welder, heavy industrial plater, heavy industrial fabricator
- Fit with the strength and stamina to complete tasks in very challenging and sometimes inclement conditions
- Be confident to use pattern development techniques, radial line, parallel line, triangulation as required.
- Flexible Approach to work
- Experience of FCAW, MMA, MIG/ MAG welding processes is essential
- Experience in thermal cutting processes (oxy-acetylene, plasma) is essential
- Experience in Air-Arc cutting and gauging is essential
- Experience using hand held angle grinders and pencil grinders
- Experience of working at heights.
- Experience of working in confined space.
- Experience of working above water.
- Experience using MEWPs.
- Confident working from scaffolding

**Salary**: £17.80-£35.60 per hour
