An exciting opportunity has arisen for an RMN/RGN Clinical Team Leader position on Tasman Ward LSS PRCMH.

Nursing practice continuously develops with time and at Tasman LSS so do we. If we want to understand the reasons for mental health problems, it often makes more sense to ask “What has happened to you?” rather than “What is wrong with you?” This method forms the basis of Trauma-Informed Approaches(TIA), where we acknowledge the relationship between people’s life experiences and the development of mental health difficulties in relation to comorbidity.

Tasman is a unique learning environment in developing Trauma Informed Approached (TIA) to patient care and least restrictive intervention in CNWL.

The CTL (RMN/RGN) post is for Tasman Ward Low Secure Services at Park Royal Centre for Mental Health, which is based 15 minutes walk from Harlesden Tube Station over ground station.

The post holder will take up the responsibility of being the Nurse in Charge of a span of duty during roster allocations. You will provide unit management support and co-ordinate and facilitate patient physical health screening. In addition, you will be delegated as site (Bleep Holder) co-ordinator and will provide senior nursing support, professional leadership and advice to all clinical areas within the unit within the flexible working contract.

We are looking for an individual who has effective communication skills not only when engaging with services users, but also with their carers and any other professional (s) involved with the service users care.
- Excellent communication skills and a caring, compassionate approach to patient care.
- Sound knowledge in Registered General Nursing Practice skills and a caring, compassionate and holistic approach to patient care.
- Motivation to drive improvement in the care of Inpatients within a mental health setting.
- Be committed to continuous professional development and to working as part of a team.
- Ability to provide strong clinical leadership and role model to others best practice on both the ward as well as the wider unit.

Patient Safety

Band 6 nurses contribute to the provision of safe and reliable services by:

- Maintaining accurate, legible, comprehensive records
- Maintaining compliance with their mandatory training requirements.

The NMC plays an important role in safeguarding the public by regulating the work of nurses and all nurses, including Band 6 nurses, are expected to register with the NMC each year and adhere to the NMC Code of Conduct.

Clinical Outcomes

Band 6 nurses often work with people who have complex needs and contribute to the effectiveness of services by:

- Being confident, autonomous practitioners who take responsibility for the care they give to patients but also take responsibility for overseeing the work of others in the team including less experienced nurses and staff without a professional qualification
- Providing skilled, evidence-based nursing care which adheres to agreed policies and procedures
- Working with patients and families in all stages of the care planning process including assessing risks and needs
- Acting as patient advocates in the multi-disciplinary team and overseeing the work of others to ensure that they are also responding to the needs of patients and providing clinically effective care
- Working as autonomous practitioners and taking responsibility for the care they give to patients but also work as team members
- Contributing to creating and maintaining high performing
