City of Belfast Golf Club is based in Newtownabbey (BT36). The facility consists of has a 9-hole golf parkland course managed by a local Golf Club Council in partnership with Belfast City Council.

**Job Brief**

We are looking for an ambitious **HEAD GREENKEEPER** to assist the Golf Club Council in the daily preparation and maintenance of the golf course to the highest standard.

**Duties below to include but not limited to**
- Manage a budget for materials and other requirements along with the Management Committee.
- Cut, treat and spike greens, tees, aprons and fairways with the use of standard turf machinery
- Rake and edge bunkers
- Ensure there is no litter on the course and empty bins when required
- Perform routine and preventative machinery maintenance to include replacing fuel, oil and daily cleaning
- Monitor health of fine turf to detect and address potential issues on the course in a timely manner
- Enhance the natural environment in which the course exists with the use of appropriate sprays and/or other chemicals
- Ensure all equipment is properly stored in a tidy structured manner
- Manage day to day duties of a junior helper
- Prepare course for Competitions (including cutting of greens on the day of competition including Saturdays)
- Other duties as requested by your Line Manager.

**Requirements**:

- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in greenkeeping and sports turf management.
- PA1, PA2 and PA6 spraying certifications (desirable).
- Qualified CS30 & CS31 chainsaw operator (desirable).
- Excellent leadership skills with experience of developing and leading a team
- Knowledge of modern and advancing greenkeeping practices.
- Strong communication skills through a variety of means
- Flexible and adaptable, with the ability to stay calm under pressure, adapting your approach to complete routine and non-routine tasks
- High attention to detail and accuracy - great at managing one’s own time and the time of the team
- A full, clean UK driving license (desirable).

**Salary**: £12.00-£14.00 per hour

**Experience**:

- Relevant turf maintenance: 5 years (required)

Licence/Certification:

- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in greenkeeping (required)
- PA1, PA2 and PA6 spraying certifications (preferred)
- CS30 & CS31 chainsaw operator certifications (preferred)
