Role summary

We have a big mission and ambition; we want to help customers manage their finances, starting with how you invest and achieve your wealth goals. We believe the best way to make this happen is by being absolutely customer obsessed.

As a Head of Product Design for CMC Invest, you’ll play a vital role in the Product function in both a hands on and strategic management capacity. You will be driving forward best design and UX practice for the product, as well as upskilling and mentoring the team. As a key manager you’ll have autonomy over the design and UX direction and how to best fulfil the customer and business needs.

We are looking to transform and focus our ways of working to be a test and learn, data driven, user focused business. As a department we are transitioning from a feature factory into solving customer problems. This means we want individuals from all walks of life and backgrounds who can help our customers achieve their goals. Our team members work in mixed resource squads, they guide and influence one another, they engage with the business, and they meet with our customers.

You will be working with passionate Product Managers, Product Designers, iOS Developers, Android Developers, TypeScript Developers, Q&A Testers, and Cloud Architects. You will be supported by industry experts, various SMEs, and an open and encouraging leadership team who genuinely wish to disrupt the sector.

You are responsible for:
- Managing and growing the Product Design team, currently we have three Product Designers, one for each of our squads- Helping drive and manage planning, research to support the design, development and continuous improvement of our customer experiences- Owning the design strategy as well as contributing towards the wider product vision and positioning- Defining the vision for the UX and UI before overseeing its implementation- Providing aesthetic judgement and facilitating the team

As the role progresses, you’ll:
- Mentor the Product Design team to continue their development and ability- Help steer the Product function to be user centric and obsessed with our customers- Raise the profile of the design function within CMC Invest- Identify future trends in UI/UX design highlighting any gaps or unmet needs and build proposals for innovation- Suggesting and refining the tools and processes we use and follow to help enable delivery

Our designers use Figma, Miro, FigJam, and we are developing our own design system. As a wider team we use the full Atlassian suite of tools, from Confluence to Jira, and for Product Management we use ProductBoard. Internally we have Microsoft Teams to communicate and share information. We also have user research tools and software to help us track sessions and key events, such as mParticle, Amplitude, Firebase, GA, Full Story, Braze, and looking to find even more best in class solutions to help us.

Each squad has its own specialism and focus, we have a range of opportunities and want to continue to narrow the scope as we expand the number of squads to create true vertical ownership across the organisation. Starting with the customer and making them the driving force for all our decisions all the way down into all aspects of our technology and culture.

A Head of Product Design can come from all backgrounds and in many different forms, we do not believe in cookie cutter Product Designers (Heads of or otherwise), and actively want to speak with the unexpected and eager.
