To provide efficient, confidential and professional administrative support to the Antenatal and Newborn Screening Coordinators and Deputy Screening Coordinator. The postholder will help to monitor and maintain safe and quality assured National Antenatal and Newborn Screening Programmes.

The Antenatal and Newborn Screening Team are responsible for providing a specialist administrative (data collection and analysis) service that supports the collation and entry of data for the National Antenatal and Newborn Screening Programmes, that include:

- Sickle Cell and Thalassaemia Screening (SCT)
- Infectious Screening in Pregnancy
- Fetal Anomaly Screening (FASP)
- Newborn Infant Physical Examination (NIPE)
- Newborn Bloodspot Screening (NBS)

Maintaining failsafe databases for the National Antenatal an2918d Newborn Screening programmes.

Assisting the Antenatal and Newborn Screening Coordinators to implement and maintain failsafe systems by ensuring the eligible population have an outcome recorded for each relevant screening programme, this will require following up missing data and requesting repeat samples if required.

Organise, prioritise and manage own time to ensure failsafes are completed within appropriate timeframes / deadlines.

Accurate and methodical collation and data entry to databases or national systems, to evidence and ensure that all women and their babies are offered Antenatal and Newborn Screening in line with National guidance.

Complete data input tasks for a range of programme systems E.g. Congenital Anomalies Register (CAR)

The use of clinical and non-clinical information systems and databases to support the completion of the failsafe systems.

Record, maintain, transmit and store information relating to the National Antenatal and Newborn Screening Programme either electronically or on paper.

To deal with enquiries on behalf of the clinical teams either by telephone, personal contact or written/electronic correspondence.

Under the direction of the Antenatal and Newborn Screening Coordinators ensuring that all necessary appointments, including booking outpatients, clinics, are arranged on time.

Ensure that relevant patients notes are available when required by the team and that all case notes are tracked in and out of the department using the electronic system.

Ensure there are sufficient supplies of appropriate leaflets and documentation as required by the Antenatal and Newborn Screening Team.

Provide general administrative support including photocopying, filing, preparing packs and other specific tasks i.e. minute taking at meetings.

Liaise effectively with other health professionals and members of the multidisciplinary team to support the failsafe officer role.

Ensure that all enquiries made, both by telephone and in person are dealt with in a friendly helpful and efficient manner.

Escalate to Antenatal and Newborn Screening Team / Senior management team if any concerns are identified within the scope of the role.

Take responsibility for raising concerns in relation to health and safety thus contributing to the maintenance of a safe working environment.

Report any untoward incidents, accidents and other relevant information to the Antenatal and Newborn Screening Coordinators / Senior Management team and document on the Datix system.

To treat as confidential all information obtained in the course of your work.

Maintain a flexible approach to the role to support the wider team where reasonable and necessary.

Be familiar and adhere to approved Trust policies.

Identify own learning needs and take appropriate measures to enhance their knowledge
