This is site based role at Fauld Mine, Burton on Trent, Staffordshire, which was originally opened in the early 19th century and features extensive underground workings. Once a manufacturing mine, this gypsum mine now supplies cement rock, which is a mixtureof gypsum and anhydrite for use by the cement industry. The Plant Fitter will be a crucial part of a technical minded engineering team be responsible for mechanical inspections, machinery performance and maintenance. As Mechanical Plant Fitter you will deliverprofessional mechanical maintenance in order to maximise plant efficiency, by actively utilising continuous improvement techniques and delivery of the highest standards.
British Gypsum is one of more than 30 exciting Saint-Gobain brands in the UK and Much of Britain has been built with British gypsum. Gypsum is the vital raw-material at the heart of our plaster and plasterboard, and much of it is mined, milled and made inBritain. In fact, as custodians of British gypsum reserves, we've been mining it for more than 150 years.
**Here's a short breakdown of the key focus areas in this role**
- Carry out planned and scheduled mechanical maintenance checks on a range of production machinery including; conveyors, silos, bulk handling equipment, pneumatics, hydraulics and pumps etc.
- Be involved in root cause analysis of machinery performance - investigating ongoing and repeat maintenance/production issues
- Ensuring maintenance records are kept up to date, react to emergency breakdowns, perform Machinery inspection of vehicles for man and materials transport i.e. Land Rovers, Tele handlers etc.

Although we do require someone with a Mining based qualification or HND/HNC in Engineering as well as having a recognised mechanical apprenticeship, a positive attitude and a commitment to your learning and development are most important. If you haven'tworked in this industry, that's okay, we will support your learning to help you develop with us.
