An exciting opportunity for a Community Phlebotomist has arisen in the Bury Town Integrated Neighbourhood Team (INT). There are a total of six INT teams with the other INT localities based in Bury Rural, Newmarket, Mildenhall\Brandon, Haverhill and Sudbury. The INT accommodation ‘Hubs’ are the base for a wide range of other health professionals and agencies which include Adult Social Care, social prescribers and mental health team members so we are able to work together in a fully integrated way to ensure the best care is delivered to the patients within our localities.
The successful applicant will join a dynamic, friendly team of community nurses that works as part of the Bury Town INT. The team are based in West Suffolk House, a modern building sited in the historic market town of Bury St Edmunds.
As a community phlebotomist you will visit patients in their own homes, carrying out phlebotomy tasks considering good practice for infection control, manual handling and positioning, returning bloods to the health centre for transportation to the pathology lab.
You would be required to maintain accurate records of interventions and feedback to the nursing team any observations made during visits.
You will be required to utilise IT systems to maintain accurate records, providing timely information to members of the multi-disciplinary team in order that communication is maintained in agreement with data protection protocol.
You will need to have the ability to travel independently to all rural locations to carry out the post. Pool cars at the base sites are available.
We operate a 7 day service with our current core hours being 8am to 6pm. However this post would currently be based on a working pattern over Monday to Friday between those hours.
Experience of working in the healthcare role would be an advantage. However, local induction would be provided, identifying any training needs you may have.

Adult and paediatric community services, provided in collaboration with West Suffolk Alliance partners, include a range of nursing, therapy, specialist, and ongoing temporary care and rehabilitation, some at our Newmarket Community Hospital.

**KEY TASKS**: To visit patients in their own homes, carry out phlebotomy tasks taking into account good practice for infection control, manual handling and positioning, return bloods to the health centre for transportation to the pathology lab. Remember you are a visitor into patient’s homes and must be professional, friendly and helpful.
Work effectively as a member of the community healthcare team, offering support to colleagues and requesting assistance as necessary.
Record care given accurately and concisely via SystmOne and summarise in notes in the patients homes.
