To work as part of a team providing hearing screening for newborn babies by
identifying eligible babies, communicating with parents & families, gathering &
recording screening information & uploading data.
The post involves direct handling of newborn babies, contact with new parents, &
working closely with maternity staff, neonatal staff & the audiology team.
The post involves some weekend & Bank Holiday working.

To identify which babies require screening
To liaise effectively with parents, team members & other health care professionals
To explain the the process of the screen to parents & gain their consent
To carry out the hearing screening of newborn babies within the maternity unit, neonatal
unit, paediatric unit & hospital & community clinics
Accurately collect & record data on screening equipment & upload to national computer
database.
To calibrate, use accurately & ensure safety & security of equipment
To work within a team promoting a professional family friendly approach & environment.
