**We Are Tencent**
Tencent seeks out and discovers the best and boldest development talent worldwide to partner with and help them to release and publish new and exciting games that our players will love. We constantly look for new and innovative games, from, small indies to large independent game studios around the world, who are looking to leverage the experience of Tencent as both a development and publishing partner.
**The Opportunity**:
This is a truly unique opportunity for a designer seeking to take the next step in their career. You will be working on a portfolio of titles from world-renowned studios. Reporting directly in to the Creative Director, you will be responsible for setting out and driving the creative "Y" process, providing feedback on the design direction, pillars, principles and execution of on all our key games. You will be agile, covering multiple projects on a weekly basis, ensuring the key creative quality indicators are communicated to developers all over the world.
Along with the Creative Director, you will be responsible for ensuring our games reach a world-beating standard of excellence in design and creativity.
**What a Designer at Nexus Does**:
Collaboration will be at your core, consistently and constructively working with a variety of teams on the design direction of their projects. You will be able to handle "difficult" conversations when titles are struggling, and ready to step in to lend a hand.
On a practical level, you will:
- Liase daily with the Creative Director to establish strategic priorities across a portfolio of titles.
- Travel to studios to review, discuss and help guide the design of our titles.
- Ensure that the creative "Y" process is understood by all the developers and covered at each key gate during development
- Write clear and concise copy that provides leading-class insights in coherent ways. You will be able to make big ideas digestible to experts and novices alike.
- Produce frameworks for teams in need of better design documentation.
- Learn and teach; you will adapt to new processes and work with the Creative Director to ensure existing directives are met while promoting them across our teams.
- Deconstruct the strengths and weaknesses of a project incisively while making constructive recommendations for how to improve it.
- Understand the scope of a project and provide relevant insights and feedback on how it can be improved to reach our goals.
- Be able to step out of your comfort zone and assist teams under pressure to reach their goals and hit milestones and KPIs.
- Help refine the documentation of a portfolio of games to ensure it is clear and compelling in its ideas and intent.
- Collaborate with a range of developers and designers with individual needs, expectations and experience levels, often in tandem.
- Solve problems big and small on daily basis both for our projects and our internal team.
- Evaluate pre-concept builds and pen-and-paper ideation documents to spot early potential (and warnings).
- Help build the Nexus team into a high performance world class team, driving collaboration and teamwork and building a strong team culture
**Requirements**:
**Must-Have**:
- Currently a designer (or higher) in the industry for at least two years.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
- Expert knowledge of videogame genres (not just a specialist in one).
- Deep understanding of the global videogame industry.
- A strong grasp of design fundamentals and best-practices, able to talk confidently and passionately about a range of genres and design principles.
- Strong understanding of the game design and production processes of multi-format, cross-platform AA and AAA games.
**Nice-to-Have**:
- At least two shipped titles (credited).
- Marketing experience or education.
- Mobile game experience.
- Live service game experience.
- Experience working/designing across multiple genres.
**Diversity, Equity & Inclusion at Tencent**:
Diversity, equity and inclusion are important, interdependent components of our workplace. As an equal opportunity employer, we firmly believe that diverse voices fuel our innovation and allow us to better serve our users and the community. We foster an environment where every employee of Tencent feels supported and inspired to achieve individual and common goals.
