**1. Purpose of Job**
**2. Duties and Responsibilities**
- To be responsible for undertaking an assessment of the client’s needs in conjunction with clinical staff or other appropriate agencies. This assessment should be based on sound recovery-based principles and encompass the need for social inclusion.
- To participate in CPA Reviews, Care Planning and Multi Agency Public Protection Meetings.
- To encourage and empower clients and help build self-esteem.
- To monitor the level of engagement by patients with the Inreach Service.
- To work within a multi-disciplinary team.
- To identify, monitor and manage risks appropriately within the guidelines of each ward.
- To liaise with other professionals and agencies to ensure that information regarding the client’s progress is shared according to the Information Sharing Protocol/s.
- To perform a range of administrative tasks, such as maintaining client records, record keeping, minutes, case reviews, answering correspondence and dealing with telephone enquiries.
- To ensure confidentiality at all times, adhere consistently to policies and relevant legislation; gaining any necessary authorisation for releasing information prior to doing so.
- To take an active part in a variety of learning opportunities and keeping a record of them (including mandatory training).
- To engage appropriately in supervision.
- To monitor and maintain health, safety and security of others commensurate with your role as defined in the Lone Working Policy.
- To undertake work activities and related training as defined in Health & Safety Policies and Procedures.
- To identify and manage potential risk and document as necessary.
- To assist in maintaining a safe working environment for self, colleagues, patients and others.
- To ensure that colleagues know your whereabouts during working hours.
- To summon immediate help for any emergency and take the appropriate action to prevent a deterioration of the situation.
- To report any issues in the workplace that may put health, safety and security at risk.
- To instigate changes in own practice as knowledge and skills acquired and to adapt to change in a positive manner.
- To report to Line Managers when direction, policies and strategies are adversely affecting service users.
- To recognise the importance of people’s rights and interpreting them in a way that is consistent with policies and legislation.

- To liaise with ward and community teams within the Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (MPFT) to support in-patients to access housing, debt and benefit advice.
- To work within the procedures and protocols of the MPFT.
- To adhere to all ward protocols and guidelines whist on site at MPFT.
**3. Selection Criteria**
A
Experience of working in a mental health setting.
B
A sound understanding of the needs of service users suffering from mental illness, different philosophical views of mental illness and relevant legislation, national guidelines and policy.
C
Experience of working therapeutically with people with severe and enduring mental illness on a 1:1 basis and in a group setting.
D
Ability to work effectively as part of a team as well as being able to work alone and to represent the service externally as required.
E
Ability to show initiative, good time management skills and to be able to plan and prioritise their own workload, including the execution of any administrative duties.
F
A good understanding of the recovery model/approach and the principles of social inclusion with a clear ability to be able to translate these principles into practice.
G
Knowledge of the principles of rehabilitation and recovery.
H
To demonstrate a commitment to the League of Friends’ ethos, policies and procedures, with the ability to understand these policies in relation to the responsibilities of the post.
