BAND 3 SENIOR NURSING ASSISTANT VACANCIES IN THE OXFORD CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL - MATERNITY LEAVE

We have a 1 year fixed term vacancy on Melanie's Ward for a Senior Nursing Assistant. Melanie’s Ward cares for older children and teenage patients from all specialties within Children’s services at the Children’s Hospital Oxford. It is a diverse and interesting ward to work on and never dull The age range is our specialty but we take acute medical, acute surgical, orthopaedic, respiratory, spinal, ENT, psycho-social, trauma, plastics, neurosurgery, gastro, urology, endocrine, mental health, and neuro sciences patients regularly.

Do you have experience working with children and young people? Do you have a childcare qualification (NVQ level 3) or other healthcare experience? If so, we could have the perfect job for you.

This 1 year fixed term role will involve caring for children and teenagers with the support of a registered nurse and being responsible for some house-keeping duties. Training will be given to successful applicants who will be required to complete a set of competencies enabling them to undertake specific additional nursing care duties and responsibilities.

As a Nursing Assistant, you are expected to support and work closely with Registered Nurses/ practitioners to deliver a high standard of care to patients, families, and their carers in a safe and supportive environment without the need for direct supervision. You will work as part of the wider team in developing and maintaining services provided to patients and contribute to the safe, efficient and smooth running of the ward/clinical
area or department. This will be undertaken whilst maintaining the dignity and privacy of all patients and respect their right to confidentiality.
