**Job summary**:
The Identification Bureau conducts fingerprint comparison and searching activity in support of criminal justice outcomes and International fingerprint requirements on behalf of the UK. The team additionally has responsibility of UK Gatekeeper for Prüm Fingerprint Exchange.

To meet increasing demand for our services a new vacancy for a G4 Senior Officer - Fingerprint Expert (Reporting Officer) has been created to play a crucial role in contributing to the established fingerprint capability, at our highest technical grade.

**Job description**:
**Person specification**:
**Responsibilities**:

- Conduct analysis, comparison, evaluation and verification of friction ridge detail. Search marks and fingerprints against databases to determine identity.
- Prepare expert evidence and present witness testimony
- Mentor fingerprint trainees and line management of staff, where required.
- Engage with and implement departmental procedures in line with forensic regulation and accreditation standards.
- Perform a range of work activities utilising specialist databases and software in support of NCA Casework and other international functions.
- Create and maintain biometric records using IDENT1 and Specialist Collections and carry out relevant tasks to ensure rapid processing, including compliance activity in relation to the Protection of Freedoms Act.
- Maintain technical portfolio responsibilities alongside casework duties
- Attend internal and external meetings to represent NCA at fingerprint forums, as required.

**Qualifications**:

- The following qualifications/skills are essential to the role and proof will be required at interview:

- Advanced level Fingerprint Training to Expert Status.
- Please ensure the dates of any accreditations you are relying on, are entered on to the CV.
- Should you progress to the assessment stage of the process, you will be required to provide a copy of the original certificate.-

- Experienced in analysis, comparison and evaluation of friction ridge detail including processing serious or complex fingerprint casework.
- Experience in communication and verbal reasoning of fingerprint findings and their implications, including those who may have little or no knowledge of fingerprint methodology.
