We are seeking an enthusiastic Stock Controller to join our Pharmacy Supply Team located within the Stores Department, Main Pharmacy at Colchester General Hospital.

This is a fixed term post until 31st March 2023.

You will be required to deputise for the Principal Technician and/or Supply Team Leader whenever required.

The Pharmacy department has a computerised stock control system so previous experience with computers is essential.

You need to be methodical and show ability to work with attention to detail, working both within a team or an individual basis.

Experience of stock control will be highly desirable.

2. To liaise with the Purchasing and Stores staff to ensure good communication and support for the substitution of goods.
3. Answer telephone queries from customers and action appropriately.
4. To ensure that all stocks are rotated in accordance with departmental procedures to reduce wastage.
5. To train and supervise Pharmacy personnel in stock control and computer access, relating to stock control, in accordance with SOPs.
6. To carry out stock checks and resolve stock discrepancies in all areas of the Store on a regular basis.
7. Deputise for Principal Technician on sales related matters when required.
8. Assist Principal Technician in the editing of supply documentation before being submitted to finance department for invoice processing.
9. Supervise 3 monthly checks of controlled drugs at ward level, liaising with the supplies team where necessary.
10. Participate with ward stock top ups and assist with training of new staff on ward top ups when required.

- Ensure that Trust Health and Safety policy and COSHH procedures are read yearly.
- Attend COSHH and Risk Assessment courses.

Ensure that the working environment meets all standards set out by the Health and Safety Regulations.
- Assist senior staff in the assessment of hazards and the associated risks. Ensure that departmental health and safety inspection reports are completed in accordance with Trust policy and actively manage identified risks in liaison with senior staff.
- Together with the Senior Technicians, be known as the point of contact for the department regarding health and safety issues.
- Be aware of the location of fire, security and first aid equipment. In the event of an emergency, assist senior staff with initiating emergency procedures.
- Report all accidents/incidents to senior staff and ensure that an incident form is completed. Investigate the incident and record appropriately.
- Ensure that environmental monitoring is carried out in accordance with procedures and investigate abnormal results in liaison with senior staff.
- Assist senior staff with the completion of exception reports
