We are looking to recruit a hard working, enthusiastic individual to join our Domestic Services Team at Braintree Community Hospital.

The successful post holders will be part of a team working within an integrated Hotel Services department, offering a high quality, flexible and customer focused service.

It will be your responsibility to maintain the cleanliness of the Ward/Department environment in accordance with the cleaning schedule identified in Mid Essex Hospital Trust and National Specification for Cleanliness Standards guidelines.

Successful post holders will be required to carry out specific cleaning and other related duties to set procedures and standards. You will be required to work as part of a team and have the ability to use a degree of initiative to prioritise and organise the daily duties, whilst maintaining a professional approach at all times regardless of the situation.

Cleaning experience is desirable although full training will be given. Responsibilities will include general cleaning tasks such as the disposal of refuse, high / low dusting, cleaning sanitary areas, wet mopping, cleaning of patient equipment, making of patient beds, etc. Staff uniform will be provided.

- To clean all areas/wards/departments effectively in accordance with the areas risk rating and frequencies specified.
- Clean infected room/areas on the ward in line with the Terminal Clean Policy
- Change curtains in line with the curtain programme or as required for Terminal and deep clean processes.
- Carry out cleaning duties which will include wet mopping, damp dusting, control sweeping, gum removal, suction cleaning, vacuuming, buffing, scrubbing and sealing of floor, high and low dusting and wall washing.
- Carry out all cleaning duties to the required National specification for Cleanliness (NSC) and ensure all operational documentations are filled in appropriately.
- Attend all mandatory and professional development training as planned and scheduled by the department
- Respond to cleaning incidents/emergency as required by line management
- Carry out standard clean to ensure all daily, weekly and periodic cleaning tasks are completed as scheduled by management.
- Ensure that all areas of responsibilities are cleaned to required standard and ready to be audited at any time and all audit rectification action plans are carried out/completed in a timely manner.
- To help provide a safe Ward/Department environment by contributing to the maintenance of health and safety of others by following Fire and Health & Safety Policies at all times.
- Clean facilities to the required standard, frequencies and replenish consumable supplies such as paper towels, toilet rolls and soap.
- To maintain personal hygiene standards which minimise the risk of cross infection and adhere to the Trust infection control policies
- Effectively utilise domestic supplies and ensure safe storage according to Trust guidelines of COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health)
- Ensure all PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) issued are worn as identified in COSHH folder and is in good repair. Adhere to Trust uniform/ all other relevant policies.
- Work as a member of the Domestic / Ward / Departmental team.
- To have a flexible approach to hours of duty in order to cover annual leave, sickness and Terminal / deep cleans.
- Carry out flushing duties on designated areas of responsibility as instructed by the Health and Safety Department.
- Clean all fixtures and fittings on all ward and departmental areas.
- Carry out bed cleaning/ makingduties.
