Portfolio Planner needed to build bottom-up project and programme plans in SmartSheets
Job Overview
As a Portfolio Planner, you will play an active analytical role within the programme. You will be building bottom-up project and programme plans in the currently used PPM tool - SmartSheets.
Location: Reading RG2 6UU (hybrid/remote working options available - the team is based nationwide, there are occasional workshops held in different locations)
Pay: £550 per day through umbrella
Days: Monday to Friday
Contract: 6 months rolling
Key Responsibilities
- Working on large transformation programmes whilst helping the Project Managers to see the bigger picture and connect the dots
- Facilitating workshops, presenting, communicating with impact, and challenging the status quo
- Building bottom-up project and programme plans in SmartSheets
- Supporting in automating the process so it is clearer and concise.
- Building each project plan into the ability to build up dependencies into a portfolio
- Building the plans from ground up and hand it over to PMO Analysts.
- Ensuring standardization and consistency - same terminology, same purpose, same stages for everything and everyone
- Milestones, projects, dependencies, looking at data sets and spotting discrepancies.
- Being comfortable with working through spreadsheets through bottom-up perspective
- Looking at large sets of data and questioning it.
- Working across the business to assist whoever is needed.
- Managing and interpreting large sets of data, whilst proficiently using Microsoft Excel, PowerBI and different PPM tools (the main tool is Smartsheets)
- Elements of direct project management
- Onboarding data into Smartsheets to ensure the business is working as efficiently as possible and effectively generating PowerBI reports
- Showcasing trends and products across the portfolio
- Keeping track of the budgets, being able to portray the programme against Opex and Capex
- Working with various suppliers to ensure that the visions are aligned.
Experience Needed
- Experience of managing on planning perspective.
- Demonstrable experience of working on large transformation programmes
- Must be comfortable facilitating workshops, presenting, communicating with impact, and challenging the status quo
- Must have experience of managing and interpreting large sets of data
- Advanced Excel skills is a must
- Experience of working with PPM tools is a must (if that tool is Smartsheets then even better)
- PowerBI is a plus
- Direct Project Management experience is a plus
- Understanding of budgeting, Opex and Capex
