Our main product, Medisoft Ophthalmology, is used routinely at over 150 hospitals worldwide to help clinical teams assess vision defects and save sight.

Our innovative Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system, mediSIGHT® is used by around 70 organisations. mediSIGHT® and will replace Medisoft Ophthalmology as Medisoft’s flagship product, consolidating over 20 years of product development and user feedback. mediSIGHT® is localised for a number of European markets and is live in three languages currently; English, French and German.

**ABOUT YOU**

We are looking for a motivated Junior Software Test Engineer who will be able to gain experience in enhancing and maintaining Medisoft’s technical test frameworks (including performance, automation and security testing frameworks) which are used for early identification of potential issues and monitoring the overall performance and quality of our main EMR solution mediSIGHT.

**Daily responsibilities include**:
Performance Testing
- Assist in designing, developing, maintaining, and executing performance test plans using JMeter.
- Help analyse test results and build performance test summary reports for stakeholder review.
- Support in the process of maintaining performance testing environments and infrastructure.

Automation Testing
- Gain experience in developing and maintaining automated API tests using an internal testing framework written in C#.
- Participate in code reviews for code-based testing projects.
- Leverage source control tools such as Git to manage project versioning.

Test Planning and Execution
- Participate in the execution of manual regression test cases in order to achieve release deadlines.
- Document and track software defects and improvements, working with development teams to resolve them.
- Communicate test progress, results, issues, and blockers effectively to the team.
- An eagerness to develop knowledge and ability in technical testing, learning how to utilise and leverage established technologies and frameworks in this discipline.
- Basic knowledge of programming languages such as C#, JavaScript, and Python.
- Prior experience in additional aspects of software testing (e.g. functional testing)
- Exposure to and base-level knowledge of some performance and/or automation testing concepts.
- Very strong communication skills with thorough, carefully written documentation.
- Hands-on mentality.
- Determination and persistence.
- A proven aptitude for problem-solving.
- A passion for reliable, elegant, and usable software.
- Aptitude for identifying opportunities for product improvement

Desirable additional criteria:

- Certification in Software Testing (e.g. ISTQB CTFL).
- Experience working in an Agile oriented environment.
- Prior experience with performance, security, and UI/API automation testing tools.
- A good understanding of the technical and practical challenges encountered during a software development project.

We don’t expect specific knowledge of ophthalmology, but we’re looking for a quick learner who is genuinely excited about our product, our market, and how we can improve the practice of specialist eye care. The role is based at our offices in Leeds, but occasional travel may be required.
